How do I add stats to blocks/items?

I added a smidgen of explosion resistance to some blocks and I would like them to reflect the changes I made. Does anyone know how to add stats to blocks/items?

I've tried editing the Localization.txt, edited the UI related xml(s) and edited the blocks to no avail

Did you add the new item to the corresponding item_display_info in ui_display and then use <display_value ...> in your item?
