Having some issues with multiplayer

Me and my friend want to play on a server together but when running one were coming across several issues.

we both live apart, but within the same regional area (Europe), and we both have pretty good internet

issues were having

- he can't see my servers, even under the friends server tab

- when we play on each others servers we can only play an hour before someones ping gets ridiculous (10,000+ ping. i had 75,000 ping last night)

- if sent an invite via steam, it just takes us to an endless loading screen.

Does anyone have any advice on how to help this?

Check out the Sticky FAQ thread. It's got tips on network issues, and on excluding the Steam and game client from your security software. (The latter is what typically causes insane ping spikes.)

I can assist further if you still run into issues after checking on that. I'll need very specific details on network layout, configuration, port settings, hardware, and traceroute data taken both directions.
