PC Haven Hotel POI

Another well-themed and well-designed area. Good long one, too! I do like long POIs as they're a great adventure for you and a friend. It did seem to make the FPS chug a little bit in places.

One issue did occur for me, though -- I lost my way on the second half of the roof. The lights indicated the stairwell and there was a switch indicator on the compass. A damaged piece of wall down where the stairs were broken looked simply like a common space a zombie jumped out of (one did jump out), whilst a light below suggested you drop down to the next level. There was also a ladder on the roof leading to the very top, but there was nothing there.

I normally have no problem navigating POIs, and maybe this was (un)dead obvious to everyone else, but I backed and forthed, dropped off and climbed back up a few times before I went in the hole. Maybe no one else had this problem...? I might well have just been an idiot.

Maybe stick a light or something in the hole.

It's not just you, this is absolutely ridiculous. I had to google and found this. I tried that hole but it wasn't big enough to go through and after 800 hours in this game I knew that we don't have to smash things to progress. Apparently we do now?

As for the roof... why? Why the ladder? Why the holes in the roof, some already broken, that just make you spend an hour finding your way back up to try a different hole? They even have a light aimed at a GENERATOR.  This isn't a 'restore power' quest.  It's just infuriating.

Then I had to take the motel apart with an axe to find the last guy - a biker was stuck between the ceiling tiles and the floor above, directly over the pool table when I got him but I spent ages getting X,Y co-ordinates off the dot, changing floors to figure out the heights, but that's okay it's just a glitch, my beef is the DESIGN. If you don't need to go on the roof to start a generator, PLEASE don't let us go up there  :(

Okay, did the "7 Days Inn" and encountered the same problem. Ran round in circles, just after you turn off the gas main, for a few minutes because the hole in the wall didn't read as a way you were supposed to go - just looked like a zombie closet. And you had to destroy a wall to get out the other side; right up until now I would have advised anyone doing POIs that you never need to destroy anything when following the route. I will adjust to this, but it is very new and isn't well advertised. Again, maybe a light inside to clue you in - like a discarded flashlight or something.

Was this the same POI that has a rope in the bathtub?  I can't recall if that's this or the nursing home.  I had a lot of trouble with both those POIs, and I have trouble finding the ropes in general.  They are very difficult to spot, especially with no light near them.  Not liking the ropes, particularly.  I broke down every door on the floor trying to find the next place to go, locked or not.  Made an absolute mess of the path, and ended up never completing it, or even getting down to just yellow dots.  Gave up after like 2 hours inside and having found the end loot room and the exit.

I think an updated rope model might be a good idea, because it is a little hard to spot. Don't remember a bathtub, might have forgotten, but one of the elevator shafts had a rope but I didn't see it and so went down a broken ladder and ended up falling back a few levels.

Not sure if I've seen this, but for clarification I'll point out that there are some POI with things you are supposed to destroy to get at stuff, though none AFAIK that require it to progress along the route.  These are side rooms with loot.  Most often they are blocked by doors that are half broken so you can see through them.  Pretty much any locked door with a hole through it requires you to break through if you want the loot as there won't be another way into the room.  There is also at least one POI with a half broken wall that you need to break if you want the loot.  It uses the broken wall shapes so you can see through a hole where a few cinder blocks are missing and see a bedroll and loot.  I think I've seen a few others with that.

So yes, there are POI that require breaking stuff to get at loot, but this may be the only one that requires it to progress along the intended route.  I haven't seen any that required that and haven't seen this one yet.  But it might be the only one.

I know there are some doors you can see through and are invited to destroy, but when it comes to the main route I don't think I have ever had to destroy a door or a wall to proceed. The holes in the wall look like zombie closets, and usually a zombie did pop out of it a moment before, so I tended to discard it as just that. But it's happened now in two of the newer, refreshed POIs: going through the hole you can see through into another room but you need to destroy a part of the wall to get out the other side. I'm just saying it's not what I'm used to, and I got lost in two different POIs on account of this. Drawing attention to it would help, by putting a light in the hole, and maybe make the other end more obviously damaged.

Makes sense.  Maybe zombies are intended to break through it and it just isn't working correctly.  I know there are a couple POI where the main route is through a wall that is "solid" until zombies break through.  On occasion, they only break part of it and you have to break the rest.  So maybe it just isn't working as intended.  Just guessing at possibilities since I haven't seen it.  But yes, a light there would be a good thing.  We are used to lights lighting our way.  😁

Yeah this is the one I was thinking of.  Just went through it again.  There are several spots where you're expected to break stealth and have zombies punch through to get to you.  And also this rope here, that gets you into the ductwork.  Took me forever to find it the first time I went through, because it was just an empty bathroom.

Also the zombies up on the roof when you're outside.  You can't see them or snipe them without them coming down.  You have to break stealth, fire a shot, and wait for them to leap off.  I think I found 3 spots like that in this POI alone.

It´s a good thing that the path isn´t super easy. I mean do we really want everything served on a silver tablet?

And actually it wasn´t that hard. It´s always the same, if there is a spot where you have no clue where to go, look out for walls that break easily, look if there any pallets or boxes hiding a door or hole in the wall, go into every room and corner to make sure you trigger zombies that might open up a path, look out for ropes.

I just came from there - same problem, got as high as the stairs would take me,  opened the trapdoor in the lift, dropped down, found ground-floor people and after clearing outside and the pool found myself at the door I started at :(

I only found the rope by smashing my way to the loot room then trying to find my way back to whatever I missed. I knew it'd be a stupid 'wall hack' somewhere cos in my reply to the OP I had the same problem with the smaller 2 story L shaped motel that was in the alphas, but I got the name wrong. THIS is the Haven, and yup, I tracked backwards to the rope that took me to a bloody bathtub.

It seems a bit risky to make such a profound change without trying it out on Alpha testers who've never seen the poi before. It was so bad I ended up googling how to enter God mode to find the last Zs rather than throw all that time away. The problem is that they leave us other options (that don't require breaking anything).

HUGE pity too cos Haven was an awesome poi otherwise.
