PC Garbage Found in 7DtD

I recently started a new character on the latest Steam version of 7DtD. With this new character, I had begun to purify some 'dirty water' at my campfire and decided to venture out while I waited for the water to finished 'cooking'. When I came back, All of my water was gone. Not only that, half of my stash (stored in my nearby crafted storage boxes) was gone as well. This includes all of the corn I had harvested from a far-away farm; about 30 of it. The work needed to acquire these (and other) resources took several hours to complete.

I have very little free time. With a 2-year-old toddler, a full-time job, and many other tasks under my umbrella, this free time is extremely valuable to me. With this being said, tell me how it is that it took you 7 YEARS you create a game this bad?

Since water doesn't evaporate, and food doesn't decompose, there is no reason in the game for your items to have disappeared. Which makes your rant extremely misplaced.

I cannot explain your loss of items, but it most certainly isn't because of any current game mechanic.  Maybe take a chill pill before you come to the forum to rant about mechanics you aren't even familiar with.

I've never ever had anything like this happen to me. I make a point of frequently going to my base and boiling water or cooking something or making iron bars.

Are you playing on a server with other people?

This sounds like you hit a bug. submit a bug report. What version are you playing?

Jumping to conclusions and being condescending isn't going to help.. someone else recently posted losing mats (ele parts iirc) from a box and a few workstations. Sounds like a rare bug to me; not like the save system has been corrupt proof this far. Obvious bug is obvious. Not even bug report instructions from a mod? Take a break, before you burn out.

That clearly isn't something that happens normally.  If you are on a server or have your game set to public and not single player and not password protected, someone may have joined the game and taken your stuff.  There are people like that.  A bad mod could also cause problems.  If you provide a log, someone might be able to see what the problem was.  But a rant isn't going to get many people to want to help you out.

The only way I see this happening is if he quit the game with alt-f4 or just turned off the PC instead of exiting the game the proper way.

If the game was saving at that moment, it can screw your game pretty bad.

Well, unless you call a bug a game mechanic there is ofc no game mechanic that does this. I can not be 100% sure as we play MP coop, but i had stuff vanish aswell. And as my buddies don´t craft i highly doubt they took it out of storage and used it as i read all the recipes.

@Sirius Turn on creative mode before you start your game. Once you loaded in press U and get yourself from the creative menu what you have lost.

In my 1200 hours I have never had this happen.

Do you have mods or are you playing an old save on a newer version? This can cause all kinds of unexpected behavior.

Another possibility is if you install mods after you started the game and acquired items. Depending on how the mod adds the new items to the game, it can switch the item IDs and that will cause your inventory to swap to different items.
