Game Suggestion

Could we get an option in a later update to have a choice to start a new world with a survival character we already have on a different survival world so we can bring our leveled character from world to world when playing solo or with friends? Keep ONLY our level, skills and progression on magazines. As someone, and im sure a lot of others too, it kills my enjoyment of having to start 100% from nothing, but wanting to explore different seeds and play with friends who may need a slight hand.  Im not saying force it, obviously. But give those of use who would prefer that the option to do so.

This is interesting & I am for the idea I hope it could work across the internet. If locally then I guess we should also include the thing minecraft does where you can build a portal & it takes you to the other world that's saved on your hard drive. If you didn't build the portal on both saves then it would randomly generate the portal somewhere in the world when u loaded in.

Valhiem and Ark let you, it would be nice to move between worlds.

I would like not to have to invite friends each time to be in the alliance and see a colored arrow for them instead of grey starting. Not having to unlock vehicles would be good. I get them having the lock function for PvP players but most of us are coop and it's just annoying to have to click unlock and being in alliance thing every time. Drone healing each time when the drone works....

You can do this manually and I get some people do think it's a good thing to do.  I personally don't know why you'd bother.  I don't start a new game because I've explored everything or done all the quest tiers or whatever.  I do so because I have completed all the leveling and perks and magazines that I want and the game is now easy mode.  Transferring my character to another map leaves me in the same situation, where there's no reason to really play the game.  It's like playing a game of Diablo where you start Act 1 Normal Difficulty at max level.  You can punch everything without weapon or armor for at least the first couple of acts without fear of being hurt and without using any skills or magic.  What's the point of that?  Just my opinion, of course.  I wouldn't care if they added the option for people who want it.

And I do see a potential benefit for a map series mod/overhaul that has you progress through multiple maps in a series and continue to gain in experience and skills over the course of multiple maps.  But I wouldn't expect that sort of thing in vanilla even if they added the ability to transfer to a new map.

What's the point of starting a new game with a leveled up character? Even after leveling up to 300, I still had unexplored parts of the maps.

I can only speak for myself:

  1. I like to make a new character for each major version, but given that TFP and I both turn out new POIs for new minor versions I want to migrate to a new maps. Thus, I tend to manually move my character from world to world as the new minor versions emerge.
  2. I sometimes like to play a "weekend sprint" where I set goals such as "cross a distance of X kilometers to civilization." An 8k map diagonal is 11k and then I'd like a new map. An alternative is to make a 10k map and run its boundaries, giving me a little less than 40 km on a single map, which is considerable but you always have some kind of boundary on one side of you.
  3. I think it would be neat if servers could connect their servers via waypoints to kind of make a larger world.

Overall, I'm okay with doing things manually. It only takes minutes, though if automated I might be able to do things like go back and forth between maps rather than abandon a base on each map as I migrate. Playing nomadically generally minimizes the waste, so even that isn't a huge deal. (You know you're going to abandon stuff so why collect it unless you need it? Plus, you can spec out to fight hordes in a mobile fashion so you don't need a horde base.)

That's a long way of saying I'd enjoy the feature if it existed, but I doubt it rises to a level where it will get traction.
