PC Game Pass on PC and Console Problem

I'm trying to play multi-player with my family. Since they removed the split screen I had to buy two copies of the game. They are playing on Xbox console while I have it for Game Pass on PC. But we can't play together because I keep getting a ms-xbl-multiplayer link error message. Does anyone know how to get around it or fix it?

Crossplay is not available at this time.  It is supposed to be available in Q4, though there was a hint given that it would be available sooner than we expect, so we'll see when it happens.  Until then, you cannot connect PC and console.  It doesn't matter that you are using both from Microsoft platforms.
