So I paused my game last night and forgot about it.  Overnight, my computer rebooted, obviously it had some Windows updates.  Today I open my game.  It is still Day 20, the map is still open where I've been, but I am at the original spawn point with the game telling me to do the tutorial quest.  All of my gear is gone...everything, yet it's still Day 20.  It's like my character has been reset to Day 1 but it's Day 20.

Has anyone every encountered this and if so, does anyone know if there is any way to recover it?

 
Your character data was corrupted because the client wasn't shut down properly. If you load the save after the crash, it will over-write the backups that are kept. Basically unless you have a manual backup, you cannot recover it.

Use console commands to get your levels and gear back.
