Game crashed and reset player info but not the map

I'm writing this first before creating a proper bug thread, if I ever actually create one.

Something really weird happened:

I was clearing the crack-a-book PoI for level 5 quest and the game crashed.

Upon reloading, I was met with the new game starting situation - character at level 1, starting inventory, all skills, quests and books reset.

However, the map is explored up until the point it was before the crash, including in-game time elapsed. My base is there and all the items in all of the storage units, forges etc. are still there; ditto with the motorcycle.

Needless to say, I am not happy with this. I have a backup from yesterday but a significant amount of progress was lost anyway. What can be done? Is there some way for me to transfer the player info data from one savefile to the other?

I'll lose some progress but nothing I can't redo with the command line. Also, I have only lost items I had on me at the time, which I can get back easily enough the same way.

All that quest progress though? I had some mod schematics, but many of those I was actively looking for? I don't even remember what level I was, around 90 I guess.

Yes, from your backup, in the Saves folder is a "Player" folder. There are three files using your EOS ID #. .ttp, .map, and .bak.

Copy those three files and place then in your current game save/player folder. (while the game is off). Then start the game.

I think the OP was asking if there was a way he could modify this backup save to include what happened between it and his game crash.

I think I got the best of two worlds - backup character data and up-to-date world data.

I'll just make sure to do the backups more often.
