Falling off the Gyro by mistake

So, yeah, that happened a few times. Pressed E by mistake and fell off like a rock in summer lake water.
I just saw Josh from the Jawoodle channel do the same and I wonder how many have taken that dark path as well...
Could TFP , maybe, if it's not asking too much, pretty please, perhaps, if it's not a bother, make us HOLD E to get out the Gyro? I mean, it's a quality of life thing, in my mind.
Thanks for the attention. Love the game, despite my accidental suicidal inclinations.

Acthually, they should just remap the default keybinds to something sensible, like WERD. Just because that's what I use. Why's that important? The F is marked, and my default position allows feeling that every time I move my hand. Very little accidents, other than when I don't care, ofc.
It also allows for Moar keybinds around the controls (which is why I swapped way back when), and that one key distance is actually great for ergonomics, less weirdness in hand position (was wildly surprising when I noticed it, and of course highly personal).

But yeah, giving it a seatbelt mod, one way or another, could be great :)

Heh. I've done it twice, I believe. It isn't something you're going to keep doing once you've experienced it. It might happen rarely after that, but not enough to really be a problem. I wouldn't want to hold E to exit a vehicle. That would just get annoying when I want to quickly exit the vehicle. If they put in some key you can use to lock yourself in the vehicle until you unlock yourself (a seatbelt), then that would be fine. I'd never use it, so it wouldn't cause me problems, but it could be useful for anyone who keeps skydiving.

Yeah, the holding E was just a top of my mind suggestion, not intended to be a solution or anything. I was just pointing out something that can happen with everybody and it does not seem that hard to prevent.

Thankfully I've never done it, which is actually surprising. My brain is notorious for pushing the wrong button. I can't tell you how many times I've hit my vehicles with a melee weapon because I try to get out before the vehicle is full stop.

I've also never done it, but then I always remap interact keys to middle mouse button. I don't know how people play using E for something you use so often without fingers getting out of place.

Why would your fingers get out of place? If you are using WASD for movement, interactions with E is an easy movement to make. It is also the common configuration in games these days, making it an easy configuration to remember.

Unless you move your WASD fingers, there isn't any reason for you to lose your place.

That's the thing. There are keys I can't reach without moving my hand, and sometimes I don't get them back to the right position. I don't have a lot of feeling in my left fingers anymore also. This game isn't so bad, mostly it's just the M for map that takes my hands off WASD. Other games have more keybinds to worry about. I try to standardize what keys do what so muscle memory isn't screwed up switching games.
