I was recently thinking about how Fallout games implimented some of the factions control features over some sections of the map. Since the roadmap includes bandits and Duke or White River affinity quests I started to conceptualise how the POI can be changed after it is cleared or its power is restored after the quest is done. For example the White River can open 24/7 shelters that will take pay in percentage of your budget to give you cover from pursuit and heal your debuffs or provide shelters from the storms. The Duke will specialise in armed outposts that can provide armed escort for area sweep or be temporary companions for Blood Moon defence. Also some notable locations taken over can be seen reestablished and used for appropriate specialisation in manufacturing, farming, healing or scavenging. E.g. the smaller gun shops POIs after being looted and cleared will become smaller weapon repair, storage, and ammo selling stations. The high affinity will allow to take 'friend bonus' of free ammo of chosen type, appropriate level gun, or weapon parts of chosen category. Savage Country will get fortified and turn to travel camping or field hospital area, where both factions will fix your traumas or debuffs, or provide free meds. Maybe some caged animals will be seen nearby before they are transfered for farms, after they were caught using traps and travelling/hunting gear from looted shop. Also taking one of the antennas or electric stations, will activate emergency radio usage without signal interference or delayed signal for backup or med evacuation in case of low ammo/low meds and multiple traumas situation. Electric station will allow to use electricity in POIs, e.g. open powered doors, by hacking or scrambling control pannels or terminals, while without electricity no lamps or appliances, aside from portable gas or electric lamps placed in POIs can work. Also like in lets say New Vegas you will be able to see some locations getting more people or being repopulated after zombies or hostile faction NPCs are cleared. This and additional patrols, camps near water sources or farms, or salvaging of some of the vehicles and abandoned infrastructure can indicate faction control over certain area. Think about vehicle repair shops, removed roadblocks, or NDC checkpoints becoming tollgate outposts, moving vehicle convoys, and ability to buy repaired vanilla or custom made faction specialised vehicles, like standard pickup truck with mounted MG, custom made sedan based buggy, or armoured military truck with max protection from vehicle damage. Also fast travel can be enabled between traders, after you reached higher affinity level with 2 of them between which you need to travel, so you can take truck or bus to travels between locations. The higher your reputation the lower the price of transfer.
