PC Exploding Bill Boards / Signs?

So playing on Navgane and I found a Pass-N-Gas next to Diresville, had a great Billboard / Scaffold, that would have make a great starting horde tower, the second I touched it the whole thing exploded into scrap metal. So I reloaded and built a frame ladder to check all the blocks with a tool out to see if any load bearing blocks where damaged, all seemed to be 100% health, I attempted to build some frames the support the scaffold on the sign, but the second any frame comes into contact with it, it explodes. I've also noticed this behavior with some other billboards such as the one outside the working stiffs. The concrete pillars seem to be only thing you can interact with without them exploding.

So is this some odd bug or are they meant to be traps of a sort?

 
Attempted to find some in RNG maps to see if it's just Navgane but have not had much luck finding billboards. Anyone who's come across bill boards in RNG maps know if they always explode
