Error installing Windows 8.1

No offense, but Windows 8.1 is the same kind of crap as Vista and ME were. It was an incomplete trash build that they just thew out there so it didn't look like they were losing to Apple.

Find a Win 7 disk and install it, or upgrade to 10. Whichever you choose, go with the 64-bit version.

As for the disk I'd be willing to be it hasn't been formatted, and you're using the incorrect install option.

With so little detail to work with, it's really hard to say though.

Windows 8.1 is only so big (roughly 40-50GB if I recall). If anything is taking up more space, it is most likely just Paging File (which should take roughly 10% by default). Otherwise, as long as your computer is clean, that should be it (unless you have a previous copy of Windows which it is saving before install). That one can be removed safely. As recommended above, I agree that you probably should just go straight to Windows 10. Just search Windows Media Creation tool. Download and run it from Microsoft and it will upgrade you to Windows 10 for free.

+1 minus the part where you said "upgrade" to windows 10... :p

I started thinking about this question and I think your system is not actually referring to the main partition. It's the reserved partition it's complaining about. It is only a few MB and on many systems, it's not big enough for the upgrade. Use a partitioning program (like Easus etc.) and give it a small bump in size then try the upgrade again.

Hey, my only criteria was that it's better than 8.
Hey, after a few hundred system tweaks and tweaking the UI for half a dozen hours to make it work like Win7, 8 isn't that bad lmao xD

But yeah, it's bad and upgrading to 8.1 is even worse, but what everyone else said you're either not formatted or selecting the wrong partition.
