Early Bloodmoon question...

Arch Necromancer
For many versions now I tend to avoid the early Bloodmoons. I'll clean out a POI, reinforce it, and remain scarce until dawn. Sometimes I'll fire some arrows to break up the tedium, but my playstyle is like 95% hording and preparation.

I'm curious how others handle the earlier Horde Nights.
I remember there being a number of cheesing strategies and tactics to make things trivial, but I'm looking for something more on the level.
While I do pursue bows, and don't do much with firearms (unless there's a very lucky find). I tend to sell all ammo and focus on melee, defense/stealth and support skills.

It seems like Day 7 comes up in no time. I never have anything partially constructed by the time the red warning comes up.
How do you guys play it?

For the first two horde moons, I go back to basics. I find a sturdy POI, create a single path upwards (I typically do it on the roof), and reinforce that area so I can use a combination of melee attacks and pipe weapon attacks. I also have a "backup" to fall to if my defenses crumble to the point that the zombies can get past them.

I personally dont cheese hordes I stick to the alpha 15 style mostly. A compound.

This run im hiding out in Jerry's fill do too the lower foundation being concrete

First 2 hordenights are almost always POI's. Just not enough time to build a solid base. I just make sure to have an unreachable spot for zeds in case my ammo runs out.

I concur with others, now a days when I play, I just ffind light post, reinforce it and play it out

I remember my first couple of playthroughs hiding in a wood box.

Once I forgot to put a door in and didn't repair my stone axe. Therefor I had to fist my way out lol.

I am usually doing a simple melee base at a POI lasting the first two hordes, for day 21 i should have enough materials to start the big one. from scratch.
