Does the perk Quality Joe affect the mechanic perk? AKA does quality Joe influence the quality of say batteries or engines you get from wrenching cars?

i'd like to know as well. I think Quality Joe affects container loot.

There is a separate skill for Deconstruction called Mechanic or something that i believe does effect the quantity and maybe quality of stuff you get from disassembling cars, furniture, AC units, etc.

No, Quality Joe affects only loot quality from "untouched" containers. Bad mechanic affects only count of harvested materials. Quality of harvested engines and batteries not affected by any perk, only random.

Quality Joe seems to affect looting, but not wrenching. One could argue that maybe it should affect both, that would be nice. But ultimately it's more interesting for loot anyhow. Having slightly better engines or batteries might be nice, but compared to looting weapons (and also engines/batteries) wrenching is more useful for the materials, not specifically for good loot... except for the engines/batteries

This would be my guess too.

Seeing how I can get 500+ quality engines from wrenching early game, way before I got QJ and how I can still get loads of very ♥♥♥♥ty ones while running with lv3 QJ it seems absolutely random.

Put your points in Science for good engines. i.e so you can combine crap ones up to high levels.
