Do more with mapping

I really like that we have to uncover the map by venturing around, but I think there are a few changes that could further improve it.

Uncover more area. When we can see so far it makes little sense to have such a small radius of area we uncover. I am not saying we should uncover as far as the view distance, but currently it feels unreasonably small, and it can make uncovering areas feel like cutting grass rather than a result of natural exploration.

Scout heli. While flying we still uncover just a tiny piece of the map around the heli while being able to see for a kilometer. I feel like the uncovering radius should be larger or smaller based on vehicle used. Maybe the 4x4 gets a slight buff over the cycles since you sit higher up.

Shared map data. I would really love to be able to scout the map, come back to base and share my findings with the rest of the group. A simple button on the map screen to share map data with party would work, but it could also be more involved. For example, if I had the most explored area I would craft maps for each party member to consume which will uncover my findings on their own maps. For solo players, the traders could sell map data of the area around the trader.

Exploration skills. Maybe to further increase the uncovering radius or craft the map data packs, a player would need to invest some skill points into one or more new exploration skills.

Finally, a small personal request, make the heli keep flying when you open the map.

Had suggested that as well in the past - it could easily be a perk that influences the map exploring radius (depending or not on current player's height on the map), adds small icons/hints on the map - without replacing the player's actual exploration experience though, indications for radiation or other dangerous areas (after you bump on them yourself, not before), more specific quest markers, sharing explored map with the party, etc

I'll say it, then. If you can see it, it should go on your map.

Doing this trivially would mean mappingDistance = viewDistance. Doing it right would mean taking terrain occlusion into account -- a taller order.

 
I think the player map in general would need a little overhaul.

Don't know really what's the limit on the amount of markers you can have, but i would love to leave an X on each POI i looted in the city.

I would love to have bigger radius also or something like a bigger radius grayed out (visited in a wide vicinity) and colored (actually been close enough to see details).

I would love a way to paint marks directly onto the map like Rust used to have. Being able to draw lines or circle areas would be a great addition to waypoints.
