DJ's First POI

Hi all, this is My VERY First POI, designed in A20.  I'm coming from Console so never tried making a POI before.  This is a replica of my childhood home.  (Yes it really looks like this... even today  🙁)

This POI is meant to be a stealthy mission.  Yes it is a dungeon style POI, but it is a small - medium size POI that shouldn't take too long to get through.

There are Clear and Fetch quests available. Plenty of Loot... maybe too much?? 🤔.

I'd recommend playing on playtest in the editor as I haven't figured out how to get it to lay correctly in a world.  Perhaps someone can guide me.  It is not currently optimized for Night Runs.  I plan to update for that shortly.

Here are the items I'd recommend to start for a decent challenge (of course do what you want).

  • Loadout Tier 1 from "Prefab Loot Test" box
  • The Bow and Arrow's provided in the Loot Test box
From there gather and use what you find.

No cheating, and knocking down walls.  I think I've guided you pretty well.

Would love some feedback.  Enjoy

hi and welcome to prefabbing.

Congrats on your first prefab 🙂

Ok for ground level  in the editor simply navigate to your tools section and go to tools 2 tab (tools tab is on the right section top corner when you are in your escape menu.) some tabs up top go to tools tab 2 and locate show ground level tick it and see a checkered layer appear then simply press the up arrow til you are happy with the level. then navigate to the showfacing button in the same section. click it and see a arrow appear facing either n, e, s or w (you may have to fly around your poi to see it) . now stand facing the way you want your poi to face and then see which way the arrow is pointing and click rotate to have it face the same way.

Now save strip internal textures (not strip textures lol) save and update imposters save this will recentre/align your poi if it is off with the level change. go back to tools tab 2 and click on show ground level and recheck the ground level is good. if not repeat the steps.

now navigate to your driveway and aim at it then you will want a driveway here as i presume the district you want it in.  shift + enter will bring up a menu here you click on spawn marker a yellow marker should appear where you aim. if not adjust so it is on top of the drive way and repeat. once you have the marker hit escape then k. this will bring up the menu for that marker.. .top option navigate to partspawn.

then 3rd option from bottom hit the > til you find part_driveway_residential, adjust the positioning of the driveway to be ground level and the edge of the part touching the edge of your poi.  and scroll thru til you find one that fits. if you cant find a suitable size then i suggest you re size your current drive way to match a existing one. or you can make a new part either way.

These driveway parts are district specific also so if your poi is a country_residential  then use the part_country_residential part.

simply save strip internal textures save update imposters and save then go back to your tools tab 2 hit the tag properties button. this will bring up the placement of the poi. look thru and find the district you wish - ie: residential. tick it then save and save one final time.

simply load game and play and use dm then escape then poi locator to find your poi 🙂

Dude A million thanks.  Your like...Morpheus to me right about now.   I had everything done except for the "Strip Internal Textures" and "Part_country_Residential part" for driveway.  A question...

  • I assume the "driveway part" name should match the "prefab tag" to clarify your statement... so, I conclude there should only be 1 prefab tag?
  • Do I need to generate a world first or can I just start a new game using the existing worlds?  (The later I tried and my POI was not there.  I assume there is a randomness on what POI's are generated so perhaps mine was not lucky enough to win the lottery or I'm missing something else)

In answer to your first part - yes and no. Yes if you tag it residential or Industrial you add that driveway bit you can have it in 2 district's.

Commercial and downtown don't need driveways..

In answer to your 2nd part Start a new world always when trying to load a poi.

Spent the last few days going through the setup (got a little side tracked with a new POI) and still cant get this POI to auto generate in a world.  Does it have to be a specific size?  (This one is 25, 19, 42).  I can manually place it in a world, with a little bit of nudging.

You can spawn it in the wilderness tag.

But for countrytown, countryresidential  downtown,  commercial, industrial and residential they need to be a set size.

Ground size poi should be smaller

25 x 25

42 x 42

60 x 60

100 x 100
