Des Animaux / Add animals in the game

Bonjour,

Hello,

I would like to share a suggestion with you. I was wondering if it would be possible to add animals to the game.

Let me explain: why not introduce chickens that players could raise to get eggs? Eggs could be used as food or placed in an incubator to hatch more chickens. Players could also kill chickens for meat, but this meat would produce a smell that attracts zombies. Players would need to build a coop, provide food and water containers, and feed them (corn or other resources, etc.). Chickens could also be attacked or eaten by zombies.

Similarly, why not add a dog to the game? Players would need to craft a bowl to feed it (meat mixed with corn or other ingredients to create dog food, plus water), build a kennel, and raise it. The dog could wear armor and carry small storage packs. It could distract zombies, have its own health, respond to a whistle, and help during zombie attacks. There are many possibilities.

You could also add animals like crocodiles to help defend a base, or even a puma that players could rescue as a cub at great risk, raise, and eventually turn into a loyal companion.

Since syringes already exist in the game, it could be interesting to introduce anesthetics to capture animals, or make them purchasable from traders. Maybe even add tools like blowpipes, etc.

I play on PC.

Thank you in advance for your work and for taking the time to read my message.

They don't plan on adding companions other than the drone, mostly due to pathing and whatnot from what they said when they added the drone instead.

Chicken coop is coming, but it will likely be similar to the apiary. Where would crocs make sense in the game? There's barely any water as it is. Pumas don't make sense either. Sounds like you wanna play Conan or something instead.

I don't know what Conan is? Anyway, there you go.

No, I just wanted to add a bit of gameplay variety so there are different versions available, and we don't get stuck in a rut. I play in co-op; we stopped for a while because it was too easy, but we just started playing again and we're enjoying it so far.

If this bothers anyone, I'll keep my suggestion to myself; I just wanted to discuss it.

I thought this was a discussion and exchange group, but maybe I was wrong.

Thanks and have a good evening.

I don't know what Conan is?
Conan Exiles, another game with plenty of "friendly NPC" -things.

I thought this was a discussion and exchange group, but maybe I was wrong.
It is, you just ran into one of our resident curmudgeons. I'm the other one, so I'll point out there's a "Pimp Dreams" -section for suggestions ;)

There are some mods that add all kinds of NPCs, but with the current systems, none of them are that great IMO. Hopefully with the official bandits coming in, the mods can benefit as well ...

I'm a curmudgeon because I explained something? Mmkay. Some people are just soft these days... If they didn't want discussion they shouldn't have posted this in General....Discussion.

TFP have stated several times animal/humanoid companions aren't happening. Just stating facts there. And things like crocs and pumas make no sense in the game at all due to its setting, and they make less sense as "tamable" animals. That's why I suggested Conan as it seems like maybe something they may enjoy if they like having different type of companions and stuff. I'm not against new stuff being added but not just for the sake of adding it. It should at least make sense in the game world.

Eh, I can only handle people posting the same crap over and over again as if no one else has ever posted it before, all while ignoring any comments TFP may have already made on the subject. Just gets old.

And I'm far from a grandpa. Age-wise at least. Lol.

Depends on the standard; you've been on this forum for half a generation already... if you were past 20 when you joined, you could easily be a grandpa by now ;)

Repeated topics do get old; but there's a fresh wave of newbies born every year, and some of them ripen to the "Imma try this posting thing out" -phase... it's only going to keep getting more repetitive from here :P

It's a new user and that was the first message. Nice of you to welcome this person who knows nothing about what might have been written before joining the forums.

First of all, welcome to the 7 Days to Die Forums.

I wanted to let you that there is a section called "PIMP DREAMS" where you can post your ideas and suggestions.

Puma: There is already a Mountain Lion in the Snow Biome which is kind of similar so I don't really see why adding a Puma would be needed.

Dog that can carry your things and follow you around: There is a drone that does all that, and you don't even have to feed it.

Chickens: A Chicken Coop will be added later in the game (maybe version 3.0?) and you will feed them, get eggs and kill chickens for meat.

Crocodiles: Would not fit in this game since it is situated Arizona, U.S., in the fictional county of Navezgane.

Since you are on PC, there is also a forum for "GAME MODIFICATION" where you have all kind of things you can use to change game elements or add new things. There is usually instructions on how to install the mods. These mods are made by the community and not by The Fun Pimps.

Hope that helps.
