yeah... surviving will be a real challenge eh? 
my last two 18.4 playthroughs what's been actually rare are pump shotguns and marksman rifles. oh, and machetes.
current game I've gotten a ton of double barrel shottys & quite a few SMGs, more than AKs for once. & only 2 M60s so far.
while I did get a few pistols early on, they've dried up now, lvl 68 LL-4, so I actually just scrapped a T3 SMG for some pistol parts. go figure
