Decals on solid blocks?

Is there any way to add decals to solid blocks? I can add decals to asphalt blocks in vanilla prefab editor, but not solid ones, is that possible? I tried to follow Wsiegel's recommendations changing the metatags and damage stuffs, but it doesn't seem to work on A18.
