Basically: what if there was a version of Dynamite that dropped mats?
I'm not gonna say to make it cheap or easy; it should be gated behind Mother Lode 4 at least, and if bought from a Trader or looted, should drop 10/20/30/50/75% of what would have dropped if mined manually. Make it call for Electrical Parts, Animal Fat and Scrap Polymers to keep the expense relatively high, maybe some Steel to reflect it being a shaped charge.
I love digging underground superhighways and it hurts me to either have to manually dig through ore deposits or waste all that lovely ore.
