Continue Driving in Map View

Since there is no mini-map option in the base game, I often flip to the map view quickly while driving, to ensure I go the right way, take the correct turns, etc.

However, every time I open the map, my vehicle stops accelerating. Could it be changed so acceleration can continue, as long as I keep holding the buttons down?

 
Have my upvote. Not just W, all controls should work. Especially if driving a car.

Also, driving a car should put a minimap on your HUD. Because, you know... You can pin/glue a map to always be visible while driving a car.

(personal experience: back when I worked as a mailman, I sometimes had a map in front of me. On a motorcycle. Even in rain.)
