I can see a point where the console will support most server-side mods by joining PC dedicated servers via cross-platform play.
However you aren't likely to ever see any of the larger client-side mods available for the console. It just doesn't have the hardware to support it.
There is a stark difference in the hardware, and it is exactly why the console is getting shafted so much.
Most games out there, only care about the GPU. And the console is great a GPU-type performance. (At least the Series X and the PS5 are.)
7 Days to Die on the other hand, relies a lot on the core system components much more than the GPU. Which is where the consoles fail.
Recommended spec for most of the overhaul mods is going to be as follows.
CPU: 6-cores at 3.5GHz
RAM: 12-16GB DDR4
GPU: Dedicated GPU with 6-8GB VRAM
Storage: SSD or better.
The only feature there that the console meets is on the storage.
Sure both consoles have 16GB RAM. However it is shared with the APU. When you're trying to use 8GB VRAM and 12GB RAM, that doesn't work out.
Console is lacking in CPU performance because it again is shared with graphics processing. Sure the APU is better than some inbred chips, but it still isn't the same as a dedicated chipset.
These limitations are why the console has limited video options, and cannot even do RWG right now. Much less manage extra overhead for mods.
