Linux Connection to Server keeps dropping out

Version

The attached video demonstratres 15 dropouts within 1h

Before anyone says anything, I'm going to rule out a few things right off the gate:
  1. Internet connection and wifi connection are healthy and stable. Other online services such as YouTube, Spotify and Discord are functioning as they should without any indication of a network dropout;
  2. The same phenomenon happens when I'm connected on a different wifi at a different address on a different ISP;
  3. No other online game is experiencing Network difficulties, only 7 Days to Die;
  4. No other player on the server is experiencing dropouts, only me and I'm the only one running the game on Steamdeck.
Respectively, the above factors are ruling out the following potential issues:
  • Internet connection (because everything else works fine and the problem persists on a different network)
  • wifi connection (because everything else works fine and the problem persists on a different network)
  • ISP (problem persists on a different ISP)
  • SteamOS (all other online games work fine on my platform)
  • Steamdeck (all other games work fine on my platform)
  • the game server (other players don't drop out)
In the light of all these observations, the most likely culprit would be the game client.

Please advise.

I am available for further troubleshooting steps. If this does not get resolved within 30 days I'm going to notify Steam so tney can remove the Steam Deck Compatibility icon on their store.

Thank you.

I've had my steam deck connected to servers for serveral hours with no disconnects. One thing I see different is your deck is running around 30fps and your unused asset unload calls are taking some time, so I think your settings have your steam deck's resources pegged out, so when big things need to happen they take some time, causing your deck to stop responding to the server for longer than the server can wait, causing it to disconnect you.

Try lowering some settings and don't use the "new fan control" settings, the new one lets the deck get hotter than the old config and then thermal throttles the CPU, lowering the speed of it. Half shading also helps, there are a lot of power configs you can set for the game. I tinkered with it a bit and it runs at a steady 60fps (though I usually limit it to 45-50 to save battery) and I don't have hitches at all. Moving this about but feel free to keep responding here if you need more help.
