Confirm - what model is the 9mm sidearm based on?

I am trying to confirm what the 9mm sidearm in the game is based on.

also why don't we have 556 ammo and guns in the game? during a zombie apocalypse 556/223 ammo would be the most widely available in the USA

Just off the top of my head I think it's similar to a Beretta M9.

They probably don't ever add more ammo types as that's just "useless fluff". Mayic has a nice mod with plenty of options though.

I'm fairly certain 9mm is the most common pistol ammo in the USA, although 22LR is very common and can be used in some pistols. I have a 1933 Colt Woodsman pistol that uses 22LR just in case the 9mm supply runs out during the apocalypse
