cone spike traps

On the legacy version for console, we had cone spike traps, used to on my bloodmoon bases, i would build my drawbridge and did a death pit under my drawbridge and then reinforce it with metal blocks once done i would place the cone spike traps down in the pit, and let the cone spikes do the dirty work, is there any way to bring those those traps back?

Only through modding.

Initially they were removed for two reasons.

  1. People exploited them severely by inverting them to make a smooth floor. Zeds would walk along them taking damage the entire time. A few rows around your base made your base virtually invincible.
  2. Zed pathing did not treat the blocks correctly when they were in the correct position. This caused zeds to get stuck on them, bounce around, and had other pathing issues when traversing them.

The latter was fixed, so the block shapes are available again. The former will not likely ever be restored in the Vanilla game for the obvious reasons.

man, that bites, hate it when people ruin a good thing like that. So, the cones now in the blocks are purely a shape now and can't be used as a defensive weapon? If I'm understanding this right.

well at least we still have the regular spike traps to use.

Surely there's a way to make it to where they are defaulted to just 1 position, so that way they couldn't be exploited.

Considering it is only a change of one line in XML to add all rotations, I guess they wouldn't want to leave it so easy to exploit, even if it required a mod to do it.
