Can't start game without closing my dedicated server

I run an Alpha 21 server with my friends on a Discord server. If I stop playing for a while, it registers that the game is running, rather than the dedicated server, and I have to close the server to be able to play. Brute forcing it by opening the game with the ,exe closes it anyway. We're REALLY enjoying the game., though~!

Also, side note, changing the server INI settings doesn't register changes unless I open the server twice.

Sounds like you are running the dedicated server from inside of Steam instead of starting it with the batch file like you are supposed to.

■■■■, I don't have a .bat set up. I had to do something similar with Rust, I wasn't aware you had to do that with 7DtD. Could I possibly have some instructions?

The server install includes a batch file for starting the server. You can use it as is, or edit it to your liking.
^^ THis.

I also strongly recommend copy and rename the files. Don't use the stock files. Otherwise, your changes will be overwritten when you get an update or validate the files.
