PC Cannot upgrade from wood to metal reinforced blocks?

Hi all, I cannot find this anywhere on the internet. In previous builds I was always able to upgrade from reinforced wood blocks to reinforced metal, but now it just defaults to brick/cobblestone instead. Am I doing something wrong, did they remove it as a choice from the game?

It's not that I think the brick is weak, its just that I also like the metal as well. Thanks!

 
The metal step was taken out of the upgrade cycle.

Dunno if it was for resource balancing (the metal steps were a bit expensive in comparison to the cobble path), potential SI issues (going from metal to concrete is a downgrade in the load capability of the block), or just a side-effect of something completely technical wrt to the shapes menu updates and whatnot.. or all of the above.

If you want them, you can still craft Iron Frames in a forge, they'll behave like the "wood upgrade metals" used to. Looks got updated though.
