I play ps5 console version. Whenever I try to join a world from a friend, it stays on "waiting for server to join world" or something like that. then goes to downloading world, gets to 100% then kicks me back to the main menu. Same thing if my friend tries to join my world. We have uninstalled the game, deleted character saves, etc. And nothing has worked. We have lost the world we have put so much work on. Last time it happened the game updated and it started working again. And now it is back to not working. Is there a way to fix this? Has anyone else had this issue?

Is it a dedicated server? If so, it's possible your friend updated the server to the most recent experimental version which console players don't have access to.

I think this is PS on PS hosted server. In that case I have to wonder if they are connecting on wireless. This seems more like a network lag connection issue of some sort where things are timing out due to poor network performance.
