Can you help an oldie ?☺️

Hi everyone.

I have been downloading a few mods to my computer and then installing them via 7d2d launcher. I was very proud of myself 😉😆

when I open the launcher, I can see all of the available mods until recently ?  There are all of the usual “ internet ones “ but the last 3 I’ve tried don’t appear in the list and I’ve spent more hours than I care to say staring at files and trying to figure out where I’ve gone wrong ?

can anyone explain in really simple terms the process of after unzipping the download to getting it to the launcher.

thanks so much and I’d be grateful for all assistance.

I've never used the mod launcher so I can't say anything about that. But you did post this in the console section, so I'll move it to the modding section for you.

I avoid mod launcher, but the most common problem with installing mods and not having them show up is an incorrect folder structure.  Certain mods will end up extracting to something like modname\modname\... instead of just modname\...   This will not work.  Some may also extract to mods\modname\... instead of just modname\... and if you ended up with something like mods\mods\modname\... because of that, it also will not work.  If you go into your mods folder and open each folder in there, you should see a modinfo.xml file in the main folder of each mod without having to open another folder for that mod.  If you don't see that, there's an installation problem, which is usually that nesting of folders that you see.  If you have that, just move everything up one folder and you should be fine.

That’s great thank you. Can I ask a really stupid question ? Can you update the Escape from Tarkov into 7d2d mods without having the actual game of EFT ?

I just saw the actual game and now I’m questioning myself 😬

I recently saw that someone has extracted the weapons and weapon attachments from EFT to load as a separate mod into vanilla, if that's what you mean. It was listed as one of the "new this week" mods on either nexusmods or 7daystodiemods.

Also, as @Riamius mentioned, the Mod Launcher, though great, doesn't play nice with all mods you download, usually because of the file structure.

Check out my recent video for some basics.

Thank you and loved your video.  Very easy to understand but I think I’ve run out of options.
live been trying to download Escape from Tarkov.  I’ve downloaded the zipped file from Nexus.

I’ve turned off the EAC and followed their instructions using Mod launcher but no matter what I try, the file does not appear in the listings for “ install new mod “

Any line that I put in manually for Add mod, doesn’t recognise it so I think I’m a lost cause 😬🙄

I really appreciate all of the advice and time spent trying to sort it for me but I think I’ll find something else to play.

I’ve tried both but failed miserably with both 😔🙄

I have downloaded the EFT mod and have it installed but havent' tried it yet. Let me have a quick startup in a little while and see if I have any trouble with it. Will let you know and will see what we can do.

Ok I did get into the game but for some reason I couldn't make a random gen map so used a pregen one and when I exited I got stuck on the EFT screen so had to use task manager to close the game completely.

That may have to do with something on my end.

If you still want to try to load EFT I can see if I can help if you answer a couple of simple questions.

Don't be offended if they seem like noob questions lol. It just that I don't have a clue as to your computer skills and you would be surprised at how many out there can't do basic things on their computers.

1. Can you download and unzip files? For example the EFT mod.

2. Do you know how to transfer files from one folder to another on your computer?

3. Are you going to be playing this one mod exclusively or are you going to be also playing the vanilla game sometimes?

1. Is because you have to download the mod and unzip the files to use them.

2. Is because you will have to move the files to the correct folder when you have the mod unziped.

3. Is because if you want to alternate between EFT and vanilla game you will have to have a extra copy of the game on your computer...at least to do it my way.

Not sure if anything else I need to know but that should be fine for now.

You have been so kind and patient 👍🏻

1. I have downloaded the zip file and it’s in my download folder.

2. the instructions said to extract the files once I’d moved it to the Mods folder. I did this and then deleted the orginal zip as that was mentioned ?

3. we haven’t played the 7d2d actual game for some time so wanted to play just this mod.

When we open the mod launcher, it has 4 other mods in there that we play ( I am legend, war of walkers etc )

There is a generated list on the launcher for other available mods…this is where my other downloaded mods appeared and I just clicked to launch and play them. When I look for the EFT mod, it doesn’t appear and I don’t know how else to get it to the launcher ?

These are random screenshots over the past few days where I have just been grasping at straws ☺️

If what I am seeing is right this may be easier than I thought. You extracted the files while in the folder it looks like. Can you see a folder in your mods folder called EFTOverhaul.7z?

If so that is the problem. All the files/folders in that folder should be in your Mods folder and not in a folder called EFTOverhaul.7z.

I have a pic of what it should look like...

It should have told you to extract the zip files first and then move those folder (as seen above) into your mods folder.

This is of course if you have made a folder with a new game in it.

If you are using the mod launcher I am not sure how the folders will look

Sorry if I am adding to your confusion. I am not the best at explaining in posts.

It looks like you are using your steam game folder. If you like I can try to run you through how I add the mods to a new game in a separate folder without the launcher.

I don't use the mod launcher. I have a folder for every overhaul I want to try. It takes more room but I don't mind. When I am not going to play it for a long time I can just delete the folder.

I sometimes have 5+ modded games and have 5 shortcuts on my desktop to start them. Whichever one I am in the mood for.
