Yep, they can indeed! Server settings need to be in the goldilocks zone but it does work. I tested it myself today as per this post: https://community.thefunpimps.com/t...g-to-a-dedicated-cross-platform-server.43565/

As long as the server is set correctly you can join.
The devs are trying to make the server setttings and game clients more tolerant to settings but MS and Sony are absolute sticklers about no mods at the present moment on their consoles.
With the amount of hackers, modders, and cheaters I can't blame either of them for the stance. They have both been hacked hardcore in prior years and do not blame them for keeping their environments secure...
