Over a week ago, after building a very large base, I started experiencing an issue: the game gets stuck on the loading screen that says “Building Environment.” The dots keep moving, as if it’s loading, but nothing ever happens. It just stays there indefinitely. Sometimes the auto-save icon even shows up, but it never finishes loading.
I’ve tried everything—clearing my console cache (Xbox series X), reinstalling the game, creating a new world, turning off the console, rebooting the internet modem—everything. Nothing has worked.
On August 3rd at 8:57 AM, I posted the following message in the general chat of the official 7 Days to Die Discord server:
“Hello, I need someone to join my game just for loading the section where I am (first trader) could someone help me with this, please?”
Someone kindly offered to help. That person joined my game, found my base, and saw that my character was completely still. I could hear that person, but I couldn’t move, and my character remained frozen.
I asked that person to kill me. That person did, but nothing happened.
Then I restarted the game again, and what I saw was my body falling with a void animation. After that, I got the usual message asking if I wanted to spawn near my bed or on my bed. I chose to spawn on my bed—nothing happened again.
The person helping me rejoined and saw me lying on the bed, but I was falling infinitely. I’ll post some screenshots that person took.
After that, I asked them to destroy my bed and kill me again. Now, every time I try to load the game and get to the “Building Environment” screen, I hear the death music—but nothing else happens.
Everyone in the chat said it was a very unique bug, and no one really had an explanation.
So… what can I do in this case?
