Reading a magazine shows a notification for the appropriate skill. If you are wearing the nerd armor and read the magazine, you only get 1 notification, even if you got the bonus skill point. My suggestion would be to show 2 notifications or modify the one notification to indicate somehow that a bonus was received by adding a star or 2x, something like that.
