Blunderbus upgrades/ mods

I think its one of the most well made models in game, but in its current state useless it could use a boost in damage, a couple of ammo types since its a tube with a charge in the back and a couple of mods.

The mods shouldn't need a recipe, just a high enough intellect.

1. trippel charge 3x dmg, wears down the barrel faster.

2. pre-packaged charge. cuts down reloading time 25% (it's a small rice-paper bag containing the exact amount of gunpowder)

3. Longbarrel, a bit more dmg less spread (stretched version of the regular barrel)

Ammo types beside the regular one.

1. Scrap inaccurate but chance at bleeding, scrap metal and gunpowder wears down the barrel faster.

2. Buckshot twice the dmg of the regular ammo, buckshot and gunpowder

3. Musketbal 4 times the damage 3 times the range of the regular ammo, lead and gunpowder can only be loaded in longbarrel

4. Bullet same range and dmg as the hunting rifle, bullet-tip and gunpowder can only be loaded in longbarrel

 
My understanding is that the blunderbuss used whatever was lying around as ammunition: rocks, bones, acorns, buckshot; anything the pilgrims could get their hands on.

So a redesign of the blunderbuss mechanics would be that it would have 4 types of junk ammo: buck shot, scrap iron, stone, and scrap lead. it can shoot any of these things, as long as you have gunpowder in your inventory.

This would make it not just a viable weapon, but a great nomad weapon, as you can just shoot any garbage that you find at zombies. The balance would be noise and accuracy, but at close range it would be absurdly lethal. it would also have a slow reload, but be fun as hell to use.

 
Aye, for how good the Blunderbuss looks I always felt it a waste that it was so quickly obsolesced after half a day of looting and breaking into safes. More mods/ammo types would be great, I'd like to see a proper niche for it as a viable high burst-damage high-downtime and high-maintenance weapon.

I think a disposable "Oh ♥♥♥♥!!!" gun would make it viable. Absurdly high damage, but only 2 or three shots before you need to fix it. Repair with iron pipes, so cheap repair. something to put on the tool bar for when a random feral shows up in a poi, or when clearing out a poi took longer then expected and your are cowering on a roof.

 
I'd love to see 'ol blundy get some love. I absolutely loved using it, and it was a way to nerf the easy A16. Unfortunately, I havent even crafted a single one since guns are everywhere now. These suggestions would be wonderful to the gun. I don't even know how to unlock it to make it as of now lol.

Indeed. In older updates before we got the OP reloading perks that we enjoy now, I'd carry two shotguns on my hotbar(or two pistols and one revolver) so I can swap to my sawn-off when my pump was empty and there was something in my face. A disposable clutch weapon would be an excellent niche for the Blunderbuss, provided it has the damage and debuffs to justify it being used as such.
