PC Blade trap and electric fence combo is AMAZING!!!!

I just went through day 28 horde and survived using something similar to Jawoodles idea, ramp with a small tunnel at the end filled with traps. My tunnel is 3 wide, 5 long, and 3 high. 2 blade traps on each side inside for a total of 4 inside the tunnel. I wired electric fence through 4 of the 5 blocks long. Then set up one shotgun turret at each end of the tunnel, Shoot em up as they enter and before they get a chance to even leave lol. The blade traps on their own do not last very long, the Z's have this urge to destroy them immediately as i found out on day 21 horde. The combination of the electric fence and blade traps is pretty intense however. Blade traps do a ton of damage, as the basic Z's will die as soon as they run into the blades, and it doesnt take much longer for even irradiated ones to fall to their power..... they just dont have a lot of durability. Thats why i had the idea to run the electric fence through the tunnel, the zap stops them from going straight for the blade and gives the blades a chance to do what theyre intended to do. I didnt even have to turn the turrets on and i was still able to get a good amount of experience using an SMG to kill them as they were hitting the electric fence. I think im going to put one of these tunnels up on every side of the horde base and tweak each one a little to make them unique.... using blade traps and electric fence of course :) ill try to get a screenshot of it this weekend and post it in this thread

I've been doing blades/fence combo for quite some time now. The last horde I did was night 35 with zeds up to 16. Horde depleted by midnight lol.

It doesnt do a whole lot of damage, it just stuns them for the most part.
It does a fair amount and is passive with little damage from use.

And stunning them makes them pretty easy pickings.

And when you place the blade traps the block next to the tunnel (so they are in the wall, not the ceiling or floor) mid high and one on floor level (with the motion detector) you got your perfect screamer killer when your forges are running. Without the need to repair them continuously.

I use a wire fence for them. I have mine running down my front door ramp - it takes 5 blocks to kill a screamer with a fence alone.

I knew the electric fence was going to be a beast as access to it was now much further down the skill tree in comparison to A16. I like to combine it with barbed wire (the poles being buried one block - and protected - so the electric cable and barbed wire are effectively sharing the same block space).

Not bothered with blade traps yet, which seems odd as they tended to be my go-to option in A16. I did however try combining the fence with 9mm turrets. This was an exceptionally bad idea as the turrets literally destroys my FPS. From a fairly even 60, to less than 5 at peak horde. It was like a slideshow!

Its the electric version of barbed wire pretty much. Its for Crowd Control not for damage.
I don't really understand this sentiment. My electric fence setup alone can kill anything that is not green. I could easily expand it to kill them as well with little effort.

Not for me. Everything just stops in the fence, nothing actually dies until it hits the blade traps

The key is the time exposed. Because you can run a fence about 12 blocks, it is rather easy to run it lengthwise over a 10 block distance with just 2 posts. 10 is the distance required for all standard mobs. 20, just 4 posts, will kill ferals.
