Best rwgmixer.xml settings for a series of towns and/or cities that covers the entirety of a map?

I'm talking no hills or mountains, very few lakes and no rivers, and the entire rest of the map covered from corner to corner with POIs. A small map, of course, maybe somewhere around 4k or smaller.

I've been using Woodle/Khaine's Mega City modlet for the time being but it just doesn't give the desired effect (and changing from a 6k map to a 4k only spawns wilderness POIs), and I'm desperate lol.

I don't want to use any external map generators either because they either don't give the right effect or they change the vanilla tiles, which I don't want.

any help is appreciated, and if this is the wrong place to ask, I apologize and this can be freely moved to wherever it needs to be to get answers lol

Currently this isn't possible as cities/towns cannot generate past the biome line there is a hard coded limit so that modlet is the only real way to get to the closest what you want you could go into the world editor and manually place pois to make a heavily poi dense area but this is about time and dedication.

You could try editing the values yourself but unless you chose a bigger map size you won't really get any bigger than that.

I think your best option really is a third party map generator.  I don't know about others, but Teragon does not change tiles in any way from vanilla unless you're purposely using custom tiles and it can make huge cities if you want it to.  As far as not giving the "right effect," I'm not quite sure what effect you think isn't provided so I can't comment on whether or not that is true.

Just curious if this is something like what you're looking for?  If not, perhaps more info on what isn't right?  This is a single city.  At the bottom is an example with multiple cities.

This map was done in Teragon (about 30 seconds to generate it).  It has only vanilla tiles and POI.  It is 4k and has few lakes, no hills or mountains, and POI cover corner to corner (as much as possible considering 4k can't be fully covered by 150x150 tiles and so you have a slight edge).

I've included the map stats to give an idea of what is on the map.  You can ignore the mean height as I had been working on something else before generating this example and had the height much higher than normal.   For a normal map, you'd of course have that around 25-30 or so.

This is an example with multiple towns.  Spacing between towns and town sizes can of course be adjusted.  This example has spacing of 2 tiles (300m) or more between towns and has up to 65 tiles per town.

This could be what I'm looking for actually. Do you know what the map looks like in-game vs this preview?

If it looks reasonably vanilla I may have to try teragon 😮

I didn't try it in game but it is all vanilla POI.  The roads are on the vanilla tiles so no changes there.  The tiles may just not be placed in quite the same order as vanilla but I haven't noticed anything unusual compared to a vanilla mask as far as towns go with other maps I've made in Teragon.

Just note that there are issues right now with making a map for A21.  It can be done but needs some manual work until it gets updated to properly handle A21.

Oh awesome, I'll definitely try and do that once it's been updated for a21!!
