PC Are these new characters or newborns?

What's the deal with these new characters knowing absolutely nothing about anything, yet they seem to have survived the apocalypse? Can't even make some damn cornbread. I swear, these idiots could burn water. Can we get more starting skill points to reflect the fact that these people have lived an actual life before we took control?

Can you survive some days without spending any perk points? Eeasy.

So, they could survive with their starting knowledge.

On the other side you must admit that the characters are pretty good at repairing stuff. They can repair anything if they have the right material at hand. Even automatic weapons. :)

To be fair, I'm a 25 year old male and have worked in Hotels and restaurant since I was 15.

But I do not know how to make cornbread.

-You are PC gaming loser

-You play exclusively in your parents basement

-You have there Toilet and a closet full of Mountain Dew and Doritos

-Suddenly, less and less of your friends log in to Fortnite every day

-One day you run out of Dew and Doritos but that's not the worst - your internet and power goes down and don't come back for more then 5 minutes

-You decide to go out, seeing blinding sun light for the first time in 3 years, you notice you got out just in your pants, with your extensive knowledge you accumulated while playing Minecraft, you knew the very basics of survival, but had no strength, no perception, no agility, no physical durability nor fitness and watching all buzzfeed videos made you dumb as ruck over time

-You take a deep breath and go into the world

Seemes relateable.

I didnt mind having certain receipes hidden behind skill books, because we knew where to find books, now its all hidden behind a point. This game has lost its survival flair

The sad thing is, this would be the same situation a large portion of the population today would be in if something like 7dtd happened. The ones addicted to their cell phones probally won't even function as people without their phones working.

I kinda agree, IMO they should do what valmod does, and have them behind both, you can either spend points to learn it, or you can find the book to get it for free.

Problem with the addition of books is how they balance them, in alpha 16 it was kinda overkill to have everything learned at lvl 1 after finding a crack a book building, I like it just as much as the inventory rework I posted a few days ago because I like active gameplay instead of point allocation but I rather have them fixing core technical problems than rebalancing stuff

i'd skip your last row and go back to basement, hid in closet and die there silently.

then pop out of closet and whack your azz when you try to loot my basement :D

I mentioned this in another thread.

I'd like to see an "Accelerated Start" option.

You get a few points and some levels to start out and basic tools/weapons.

For those who want a quicker start.... why not?

It's not my thing, I like love that early grind.

For others it might be just what they're looking for.

Kinda like the fallout quick start mods? Where you make your char then pretty much spawn after skipping all the intro junk, some even add a class system which determines what you spawn with and where.

The early grind for me can be fun or aggravating, it depends on how much rngesus loves me. If I get a sledgehammer early I am a VERY happy camper as I know I can easly explore any damn Poi I please now, as it has high block dmg and is equally effective vs all materials. a Fire axe makes me happy too but less than sledge, same for iron pickaxe.

Now if only random gen would stop giving me worlds that feel like they are 90% snow/wasteland/desert.

Yeah.

Something like that.

I'd also like to see a Tutorial World where you learn the basics instead of having that built into the game.

7DTD is too big now for that.

Time to step up.

Anyway, an Accelerated Start would solve a lot of the problems with players who find the first few days boring because you have no stamina or skills.

They can jump right into the action.

Hell let me start with a tier 1 sledgehammer with 5 forged iron with my newbie supplies and i'll be very happy lol.

Having some things locked behind a level, fine, im all for it. Especially something like a forge, makes the game harder, and rewarding once you unlock it.

But locking egg and bacon behind a skill point, is ridiculous, using bandages to restore my health bar, while not bleeding??? Fire the person who suggested this

-You take a deep breath and go into the world
- Not all of us are over-privileged millennials.

- Many of us grew up playing outside and doing chores.

- There are those of us with good work ethic and have accumulated actual skills.

- Some of us even payed attention in school, or didn't and just absorbed knowledge by being present.

- A few of us were even in the Boy Scouts or, possibly, had a survivalist mentor.

- A certain percentage of us were even physically abused, bullied, or had other motivation, and learned how to fight.

- There are even a select few of us who use the internet for things other than social media, video games and porn, and have done independent research into a variety of subjects.

- Many of us also grew up in a poorer household where things like pre-prepared food was not in abundance.

Just because that may be closest to your own life experience doesn't mean that should be the standard.

This was kind of my beef. Before skills, ya ya, it just felt like it was you dropped in this world and you had to survive. Now it feels like you're playing a game that you're controlling some moron.

Simple things we all should be able to do, simple cooking should be capable by all.

Fabricating weapons like firearms... no. Putting parts together, sure that's doable, but to fabricate gun parts. come on now. There might be 1 or 2 out of all the people playing this game that might have that level of skill. But they sure aren't doing it without a good metal lathe. hmm, or maybe a computer and a good 3d printer. But even then without a preset design, I'm sure most of us couldn't CAD up something usable.
