AP ammo late game

Does anyone else find that late game infested quest give you so much ammo that it is almost annoying?

At day 85, I have over 4 steel chests of AP ammo. I have 3 m60 machine guns. I could literally press the fire button for any horde and never run out of ammo. I like the idea of eventually not having to worry about zombies. But there isn't any end game.

At day 167. I don't have enough ammo and worry that I soon can't do missions because I often end up with less than when I started and I need lots of ammo for the horde nights.. I play at insanity with 25% loot and no loot respawn. That could help explain it.

I play at 67% loot maybe I'll lower it more

I always want to chime in when there's discussions of ammo. There's so much. So, so Sooooo much. It's supposed to be an apocalypse, y' know? Why am I always discharging my guns to make more room in the ammo box? -Now it's coming out my nose! .. Is that my IBS acting up?? - Nope, it's more ammo!
Time to turn down the %'s again.

I always have an ammo surplus but a friend of mine just goes everywhere guns blazing and always ends up running out of ammo by end of a blood moon. This ofc ended when we got to be able to consistently craft bullets which makes ammo pretty infinite with a steel pickaxe mining run. We were at 75% loot abundance.

On the current run we've lowered things down to 50% and I still have bullets to spare but they're having to craft regularly to stay fed with ammo.

So I'm guessing the game is mostly balanced around folks like my friend who shoot constantly and waste alot of ammo. When I think about how much ammo he'd need if he was also a bad player and I think about how bad your average player is then it starts to make sense how much ammo the base game gives you.

I think we should always keep in mind that forums like this are self selected and we are the most invested players of the game who will often be more experienced and better at the game by far than the average player.

BASE DESIGN also matters when it comes to horde nights. Our current base is an adapted crypt and its just a stone outer wall surrounded by traps and a handful of inner turrets for peeling. There is no mazing, no killbox, no attempts at consolidating or guide zombies or making a killing filed or taking advantage of penetration. Heck our walls or not even high enough so zombies often stack and end up on the walls lol. So ofc we're going to use far more ammo for horde nights than we would on a better designed base.

It should be noted that not all players are the same and they have different playing styles. For example, I am 80% firearms and 20% melee weapons, but even so, I see that it is true that there is a lot of ammunition in the loot, especially in the yellow bags, which are too many in general. In my opinion, this makes looting less interesting. Those of us who use firearms spend a lot because the zombies are like sponges, whereas with a mace or electric baton you can knock down bears with one hit. For me, it's not well balanced. Firearms should be more efficient and ammunition should be scarcer and cheaper to manufacture. If that were the case, I wouldn't even mind if there was no ammunition in the loot.

That's true, I can build a super-efficient base almost AFK, but I don't like that and I prefer to build normal bases even if I need more ammo and traps. I also built my base in the crypt.

I find them alot lol
I've never found exploding crossbow bolts. I find flaming arrows, not frequently, but I'm not surprised when I do. Never any exploding crossbow bolts.
How much ammo you need depends on how you play the game too. I would imagine a machine gunner would want more than I would as a Ninja assassin
