Windows Am I cooked?

I was completely ignorant about the risks of creating a world in the "latest experimental unstable" version. I'm new to the whole PC gaming sphere. I'm already 30 hours in with a VERY solid set up. Will I be alright? I switched to 2.0 stable a few days ago to join and play with my friends in their world. Only issue I've come across in when i left it in the 2.0 version, the desert biome is completely unplayable for me. There's this weird and rapid dust storm effect that causes complete and absolute blindness. Couldn't even complete the desert challenges for the badge. I literally had to scope out aloe vera plants from the forest biome to pinpoint exactly where they were before soon being blinded by dust. Drunk the smoothie and it only helped with the endurance of the heat. Started to panic and thought I needed to start all over. I coulndn't even come across any reports of this ever happening. After almost giving up, I finally thought to switch back to the "latest experimental unstable" version and bingo! I'm able to roam the desert biome without that nasty and unplayable effect. I'm so glad.....and at the very same time still terrified. I've researched and it's really not a good idea to start a world in this type of version. Besides that hiccup, the latest experimental unstable version has given me no issues at all and I've been enjoying the hell out of this game. Can my gaming world in this version still have a future for future updates? Or is this just going be an inevitable loss in the end either way? Was this actually all for nothing?
