When u wear NVG in A16 - the graphics look like they were fully drawn! Would be nice to see this effect again in modern versions! Also night vision in A16 works way better than in modern versions in terms of providing normall vision at night!

At least it was dark in a16. In the modern versions there is no need to even use NVG's unless you turn the brightness down.

can we go one day that nobody references a16 being better than today's game. :ROFLMAO:
Yes the darkness was alot better back than
It's not that it's "better" per say but that certain aspects are missed in the current version. The graphics alone would prevent me from seriously going back and playing A16 even though it was very fun.

Darker nights or moon cycles would make the game more immersive and enjoyable IMHO.

There is a mod out that does this tho

Yeah, there was a short time either A21 or 1.0, perhaps only in experimental, where it was so dark inside buildings that you couldn't see 2m and had trouble seeing 1m without a light. I thought it was a bit too dark, but it was better than the always daylight now. Though it isn't so bad when you turn down brightness.

That was when they added the other feature that changes your "sight" as you enter enclosed areas. A separate setting, but yes.

I should re-install Alpha 18 and take some comparison shots.

Also, note that the thread has been cleaned up. This thread is not for discussing all the different gameplay nuances of Alpha 16. There are already other threads for different mechanics started, and even a suggestion to bring them back.
