Ally can't pick up objects on my own land claim

So Im playing in a sort of Co-op way with a friend, with my own dedicated server where we play together.

We are in an alliance and grouped up, but the problem is that the only person allowed to pick up objects (like workbenches or electric relays) is whoever is on their own land claim block area. This makes it hard for us to build together and change things around in our base.

Not sure if this is intended or I missed something. Is there a way to change this?
