there should be more customisation available aswell as being able to craft hidden entrances that actually work as doors like for example a bookcase that moves if theres a door behind it to make like a safe room like you would in the real world in this situation.

being able to tame and train pets

more vehicle abilities like being able to use parked up cars like in the real world and being able to modify them as not everyone would just make a jeep or a motorcycle in the real world

being able to paint garage doors and window frames 

more textures to use and paint colours too

this game is great but it is lacking so much and ruining its full potential

Are you asking for mods as this is the mods section, or asking for it in vanilla?

I've seen at least one "hidden" door in a mod.  It isn't hard to make something like that as it is just some object that didn't look like a door that is given door animation/properties.  But it won't actually do you any good.  Zombies will always find the easiest way to reach you and won't care if the door is hidden.

They have said they won't add pets.  There is probably a mod with some kind of pet(s).

They have said that they aren't adding more vehicles, with the possible exception of a raft.  There is a mod that offers you a lot of vehicles that you can repair and craft.

As of A21, most windows can be painted now that they are a block shape.  Garage doors come on a variety of colors already.  And if you want to adjust what colors are available, the tint parameter for most of  them is easy to change.

Textures (paint) are limited based on memory constraints, so other than relaxing existing ones with new ones, they have said they aren't adding more.
