Adding roll axis to gyrocopter/helicopter mods

Is it possible to create a mod that will allow you to roll an aircraft about the longitudinal axis with A and D rather than have it yaw? It's pretty difficult to get landings done right with only yawing to steer. Additionally use keys such as Q/E to Yaw the aircraft and the action key to enter/exit being R.

I suspect this is not possible due to the core game physics but just asking in case anyone has a solution.
