a21 Controller Scheme Mod for v1.0?

I was wondering how feasible you guys think this would be.  I know you could set up a steam controller profile and get like 70% of the way there, but I like having the buttons reflected in the GUI in case I forget anything in a panic.  The new control scheme has it's benefits but overall I much prefer the one we've had for years.

I'd even be willing to attempt it myself, but I haven't done any modding in the UI or control scheme before so I'm not even sure where to get started.

 
I've been digging through the configs and I haven't found anything on the controls specifically.  The XUi folders have controls xmls, but they seem to be for the visual menu items but not the actual controls.
