I really enjoyed the new power attack animations, such as with the machete. Why was it now made to look like a normal attack?

The normal attack on the Machete just happens to be a full swing from right to left, but it does finish early. The old power attack used to move from left to right on an upwards angle but its arc missed targets.
The new full power swing(right to left across the full screen) takes advantage of the glancing blow system so you can hit multiple targets on one swing.
