PC A17 "Survival" stories....

So I'm digging the challenge of this build, although I still haven't quite adapted yet. Anyone up for story time? I'll start...

Spawned in new world (build 199). Got my nerve up, walked in a seemingly harmless house POI in the town near my spawn. Would have been an easy loot in A16.

Almost as soon as I started looting, the floor collapsed. Fell in basement. Immediately surrounded by the dead, and vision blurry from being stunned (not sure if it was the fall or a zombie strike). Hit multiple times, running in circles.... Disoriented, bleeding, can't find my way out of the basement. Trying to kite the zombies around while finding my way out... Somehow escape the death trap with 30-ish health left.

Bandaging up as I walk out.... But a vulture sees my wounds and attacks from behind. Bleeding again, no more bandages. No cloth to make more. Knowing this is the end, I just start running towards my sleeping bag so my stuff won't be as far away when I die.

I don't think I've ever been this challenged in ANY iteration of this game... I know not everyone is loving the new challenge, but I'm looking forward to having to actually overcome adversity to be successful.

LOL....I believe that's going to be the ending of most 7D2D stories ;)

Very likely :)

I do get why some are upset about the new difficulty, but I wish they'd give it a chance. I'm afraid tfp will end up caving to some extent and make it less challenging again.

This was on my first world:

I initially spawned in by a town in a desert, so I decided to walk around a bit. I walked into an irradiated zone without realizing it (there is no visual sign). I quickly exited the zone (lost about 20 health), I started walking in the opposite direction only to walk into another irradiated zone. I once again ran out of said zone (lost another 20 health). I was worried I was going to walk into another zone so I decided to follow the road. I started following a road leading out of the town, only to stumble into ANOTHER irradiated zone (lost 20 health again). I decided to follow another road and I FINALLY made it out. Afterwards I started looting a car when a vulture snuck up on me and scared the crap out of me. At that point I was at a solid 10 - 20 health so I just decided to restart. Needless to say I no longer wander aimlessly due to the lack irradiated zone signs.

Maybe i'm just lucky. But i put 11 hours in A17 already and 0 vulture attacks... Also 0 deaths haha

Its also quite possible that your simply more skilled than me, it wouldn't take much :smile-new:

3 of us were around level 19-21 each on ouyr first horde night. We had a wood square house with a roof, lit the area up i na circle around it. The building was surrounded by about 5 layers of wood spikes. We were not prepared.

The zombies came at the house and belined through one path of spikes (we watched them actually avoid spike snad go to the area that had all ready been worn down) and through the wood wall within the first 30 minutes(ingame) of night. I died almsot instantly (most of my stuff was for building and the like), the second person ran around in circles with a sledgehammer and lasted another 30minutes. The third person sat there with guns shooting everything xD he somehow lived!

Respawning downstairs on my bed I put railings down and the zombies had to run around those, giving me time to hit them with my weapons (we drop bags on death, keep belts) and not die.

Once the initial horde (we had it set to 12 each, we now have it set to 4 xD) was over and we just had stragglers we saw that 2 walls of the house were gone. We lost our forge chest (sad it has our forged iron :( ) and the zombies had anhiliated our house xD come morning we fixed the house and spent the next day just finding a new base spot xD

While starving and scavenging for food in encountered a wolf on day 1. In the past i would avoid those because they were horrible nasty creatures. However i got lucky and got a shotgun and hunting knife, so i attacked the wolf, because eat or be eaten...

So which was it?

Been having a blast so far with new build. Spawned in the forest with a couple of houses nearby and killed all the zombies with my club. Next day explored and few of the poi's in the area and managed to find a handgun and a few rounds . Found a ton of bird nests and made about 200 arrows at night.

Day 3 started with a pack of wolves attacking my home base. Backed up into a corner of my little house and aimed my handgun at the door as they chewed through it. Killed 2 of them as they rushed across the room and beat the third with my club barely surviving. Got over 90 meat from harvesting them.

Went out and started killing some wandering zombies when I was jumped by another wolf that killed me. Came back and killed it with some arrows and my club. Heard the plane roar over head and found the supply crate and managed to get a sniper rifle and a few rounds. heading back to my base I spotted a medium size city. Took a quick look and found a field of corn, potatoes , and blueberries. Not going to be hungry for awhile.

Went back to my base and decided to move to the concrete trailer I found in the new city. Spotted a bear and put 5 sniper rounds into it and clubbed it a bit before it killed me. Went back and put a few more rounds into it before it killed me again. Decided to leave the bear alone :)

Moved to my new base on day 5 and secured it for the night. Just waiting the night out making some food and more arrows. Looking over my food stock I have 158 meat, 51 potatoes, 81 corn, 55 blueberries and 25 eggs.

Tomorrow I plan on going to one of the three working forges i found and put the anvil I got into it and see if i can craft some iron ingots.

For reference I'm playing Nomad and am level 12 on day 5 not really trying to level at all. 120 minute days

I have been taking it slow, and so far average two levels a day. I spend the first half collecting resources, then i look for food, then i scavenge for guns. when i get home i build the house up with cobblestone. It is a forge house with a working forge. I am making iron spikes for horde night, and reinforcing the bottom floor and making the house horde ready. This is day two on normal difficulty.

I rage quit a random gen map a while back, because i somehow ended up in a radiation zone. It appeared to be a normal biome, but i got radiation damage when i entered it chasing after a supply crate.

Was battling with some zombies and started to bleed out while already lowhp.

Equiped my only medical bandage but it wouldnt work.

Figured out too late that they swapped which mousekey uses items.

I was looting a house (this fateful morning). I entered the basement and took exception to a large undead gentleman who set upon me. As I dealt with him I heard, behind me, a panel in the wall break, and I turned to see a construction worker charging at me at some speed.

Brown trousers time! I ran from the house, determined to meet him on ground more favourable to my needs - the freedom of the street. But when I stopped to fight I saw him hesitate at the doorway before running back into the house.

I realised he had turned his appetites towards my companion, upstairs and unaware of his new danger. I gave chase, swung my club as he ran into a room...

... and fetched my friend a blow to the face that killed him as he ran from the enemy that had appeared so suddenly beside him.

D'oh!

So there I was, on a fresh new run, just having completed the tutorial for those juicy 5 points. My Trader quest bugs out, and I figure i'm free to go wherever.

First POI I stumble on was a large campsite. Nothing special, literally the same campsite I'd seen dozens of other times in my a17 shenanigans. I step up, piss off the buzzards, smack down some buzzards, and proceed to bang around and make noise to wake up the locals. Surprise surprise, Military zombies.

I dispatch the first with a deft (read: Same as everyone elses) series of low blows and insults, and I hear an explosion. Apparently, one of his buds tripped a landmine somewhere. Mindful of my footing, I dispatch him and immediately begin investigating my surroundings so I don't step on any mines. If anything, I could probably recover some mines and put them to good use.

It wasn't long before I saw the telltale, low res image of a hubcap on the ground. Knowing full well about hubcap mines, I inch up to it. No tooltip, or option to 'pick up'. The thing looked just as trashy as the ground beneath it, so maybe it's just a terrain decal? I right click.

End run.

Was looting a town, broke down a window, clicked on glass i got in my inventory, quickly pressed ''A'' to look if there are any added recipes for it.

''A'' stood for ''consume''. Died of internal bleeding.

gg autism, you won this time.
