PC A17 please explain the end goal?

Roland, could you name a few different approaches/playstyles you find to be fun in a17? Not for the sake of an argument or to prove a point, but rather to get some ideas;)

I've tried to play differently each run (started over 6 times since first experimental release). As hard as I try, I eventually find myself falling back into the same pattern. Even if I don't want to speed through progression, at some point I WANT and NEED to progress for that specific playstyle and often that point then comes way before I am able to progress, sadly. And I think that kinda speaks against the notion that you supposedly have the freedom to play however you like, when you have to try hard and force yourself to play a certain way... Slower leveling on every action but killing Zs and level gates already have been pointed out more than enough as part of that problem, so won't go much further into that, most points have been made there already.
