I'm seeing some improvements overall in the general zombie pathing and AI, and I'm having to relearn cautious strategies I'd long since dropped in earlier iterations of 7d2d. But wow, I'm really both loving and hating the new vultures.
I love the way they seem to follow you around, the circling overhead and approaching and backing away feels very natural and like real vultures. It's huge improvement on the idiotic "stuck circling" bug and the kamikaze charges of the A16 vultures. Vultures were my "go to" source of feathers before, now getting them is more of a challenge.
And the way they wait until you're back is turned and you're vulnerable/distracted before they swoop in and ninja you means I'm having to constantly check over my shoulder and scan the skies for fear of their attacks. Figuring out how long you can keep your back turned so they get in close enough for the kill without them back attacking you first is an art I haven't yet mastered.
So what do I hate? The way they seem to follow you around and then ninja attack you when you're distracted...
Oh, and the way they fly through the air like a well hit shuttlecock when you power strike one in mid-flight is priceless. Do not remove that ever!!!
When you both love and hate a feature so much, that's a sign of a job well done in a game like this. If I could I'd throw a Rep+10 for the dev(s) who implemented this. Kudos!
