PC A17 and sound

In A17, do the zombies still completely ignore the speaker? Do they respond to the sound of turrets firing if it's not hitting them?

 
The debug information indicates that at least the player has a sound attribute... but do all entities also have the attribute? Like, if a tree falls in the forest, and the player isn't around to cause it, does it make a sound?

say it doesnt but i think u wacking the tree does.

 
My only grudge with sound is the Ninja Zombies... they walk/run in the same floor as you do, you make sound, they don't.

Getting hit by a zombie who doesn't make a single sound while running at me makes me a little salty.

 
Personally, I don't mind the super quiet zombies, to me, that doesn't seem all that unrealistic... but what I do find ridiculous, is an alarm going "WAH! WAH! WAH! WAH!" and the zombies not "hearing" it, but you opening a garbage bag while that's going on, will send them flooding. Practically speaking, there's not such things as a distraction in this game.
