PC A17.1 500 block challenge

For the upcomming 17.1 i want to make a challenge.

Make a Hordesafe base by only using 500 Flagstone blocks

(2 Door + 2Hatches and and a Dozend other blocks are allowed, but must be craftable without any stationary tool Asset)

The aim is a base you can build the first 3 days.

safe ennough to store your startstuff and produce buildmaterial for something serious.

The base must be able to hold (accessable) at least

* 1 Bed

* 1 Chemistry station

* 1 Workbench

* 2 Mixer

* 2 Forges

* 1 Campfire

* 6 Boxes/Crates

Bonuspoints (no idea if reachable)

* Inclusive garage

* No AI Cheesing

* PVP safety (rofl)

* RP immersive

* Garden

* Passive Defenses

* ...

As first i share some values

4 high is not really enough, z can stand on each other and jump up

6 High you will have green Spiders jumping on

3x3 Pillar 4 High = 36 (x4 = 144)

3x3 Pillar 6 High = 54 (x4 = 216)

3x3 Pillar 8 High = 72 (x4 = 288)

4x4 massive socket 4 High = 64

4x4 massive socket 6 High = 96

4x4 massive socket 8 High = 128

5x5 massive socket 4 High = 100

5x5 massive socket 6 High = 150

5x5 massive socket 8 High = 200

6x6 massive socket 4 High = 144

6x6 massive socket 6 High = 216

6x6 massive socket 8 High = 288

7x7 massive socket 4 High = 196

7x7 massive socket 6 High = 294

7x7 massive socket 8 High = 392

8x8 massive socket 4 High = 256

8x8 massive socket 6 High = 384

I see no way to define something so complex generally. But if you stand on defense position and left and right of you Zombies jump up to fall down i would call it not immersive and add a cheesy sticker on it ^^

Do you have the underlined things by day 3 (or even by day 7)?

 
Floater plates allowed?

Logging out allowed?

Is running around your base count for being hoard-safe?

(who would risk so much stuff!) :)

On 60 min days I usually have forge and workbench by day 6 or 7. I haven't played 7dtd in a while, kinda waiting for 17.1 to hit, as I know if I start a new game now, it'll prob hit in the middle and i'll need to restart.

If your base is only Hordeproof if you log out you missed the point.

I saw no vanilla floating plates that would be safer than massive ones

If your base need to run arround in a circle i would say its worse than a normal base, but sure, why not.

 
You might wanna specify that you cannot take over a poi to do this. :p

Good question, its not the core idea of the challenge, but i would accept it if you can find this poi nearly everywhere.

Well i doubt such a poi exists

The idea is ONE base for startgame. Easy to build and suggestable as sollution for new players.

we will see if a few people join and we get something nice together.

 
The only thing not messing with the AI pathing would be if you can get zombies to miss hitting or not target a block because of some size or location of the blocks.

A triple fall pit might work until strong zombies come.

 
I dont say that Cheesing the AI would be forbidden, but a cheeseless base is better than a cheesy one.

Btw (17.1 is not released so this cant be my contribution to this challenge)

I made a 8x8x8 Massive block by using a rockformation to spare Blocks

What about traps? Can make Wood Spikes & Barb Wire in backpack, but Day 3 would mean not very many, after digging 2000 clay & mining 2000 Stone. hmm.. how much Iron do you think that'd be, if you mined boulders for the 2k stone?

 
When A17.1 is out i will make a testgame (vanilla) and look how the ressources look on day 3.

But if we can agree that in such a 500 blocks Base the amount of iron and other rarer stuff should be low i guess thats not even necessary.

For example i placed 12 Haybales. I didnt mentioned them but i guess if we include them into the block amounts nobody would encumber.

I want it more a fun challenge, i would not encumber if someone say, i needed 512 Blocks.

But if a other one make the same base with 490 Blocks without any drawbacks. well then i guess its clear who did better.

My early base looked a lot like Royal's.

A bit wider, a bit lower, still well under 500 blocks but I upgraded to cobblestone as I got the material.

Spikes as I got the wood for them.

There is an entrance ramp but it's built so that zombies don't use it so no cheesecake required. ;)

 
Do you build a new base at day 7 and 14 because your day 3 and 7 base is too small ?

First of all, I might. In the first A17 game that I played, I built a small bunker just to cook on the campfire and have my bed and a storage chest. I did not keep it for horde night.

Second, I don't build all of those things in my horde base. Too valuable to have where they might be destroyed. (If they are close to my horde base, they are in a discrete section slightly away from my horde base.)

As long as we're talking about beginners, how likely are they to have these workstations early game (i.e., in their starter base)?

YOu are right, but this challenge make not much sense without these "necessitys".

After the current hordenight i play i just build such a microbase with i guess less than 50 blocks. There will be not much variety
