PC A Pre-Built PC manufacturer that doesn't suck

So I was watching some vids on Youtube again and came across this:

I then went over to their website to see more impressive deals that I myself would consider going with if I didn't know how to build a PC myself. I don't particularly agree with their GPU choices, but the overall prices and attention to detail are really good, and they have custom options where you can basically change out everything and customize it all yourself (within limits).

But, this being only the 2nd time I hear of Digital Storm, I'm curious as to whether or not anyone here might have purchased something from them yet and if they're as good as I think they might be?

I remember when these guys were first getting started. They're a good solid company that really stands behind their products. Looks like they've remained just as competitive with their pricing as they were in the beginning.

I agree with you entirely with their GPU choices. They go from 3 ranges of not enough, to a little OP without much in-between. Another thing I don't like is that most of their mid-range systems only have 8GB RAM, and no option to upgrade it in the configurator.

They don't have quite as much customization as they used to in their configurator, but it's not bad for someone who's new to buying PC's.

Well, they have the Lumos and Velox category which allows you to almost fully customize everything in the tower.

In germany we had such a Company that asked only 20€ to install the PC.

They have gone bancrupt. And dozends of people we suggested to buy the pc at this (big) Shop/Company lost their money.

(Even a few i advided @ Chip.de forums, but they didnt folllowed my suggestion to use cash on delivery, so their own fault. I pay all things over 100€ with COD)

(speak about Atelco and the daugter company Hardwareversand)

Dont want to make panic, only suggest to be carefull in all cases and a bit more if a company offers prices that sound unhealty for the company

Whatever the price is on the base components , they are charging an absolute minimum of 10% extra for the build to cover wages. They will also add possibly 10% for "support and warranty" costs and another 10% profit. So when you buy a prebuilt system your're paying as much as 30% more for a system built with components they will cheap out on at every opportunity reasonable. I actually find the prices of the lower end machines quite good but in all honesty you're wasting 300 dollars on an extremely low powered GPU which you'll feel a need to upgrade within the next 6 months. You can put a GTX 1080 in a potato and the machine will run anything at max settings but not so much if you're also streaming. There's a lot to consider when building a machine. A person that's new to computers and gaming could do much worse than these systems but before pulling the trigger on anything like this I'd definitely be opening pcpartpicker and building the same machine and comparing the prices.

i could still run 7 days with a 10 year old cpu and a gtx 1080 and run it at max settings...played 7 days alot with a phenom II x4 and a gtx 660 and got 30-40 frames

Not anymore you can't. I'm hosting a game with my sister and once in a while I see frame drops while running on medium-high settings with my setup (Ryzen 5 1600x @3.9GHz, GTX 1060 FTW+ 6GB, 16GB ram). When playing solo, near max with no issues at all (I do it mainly for a stable 72fps). Per core performance matters with this game more than GPU.

I constantly see ppl with GTX 1080 or better complaining about performance issues.

With other games, I at least partially agree. But it's still a bad / unbalanced setup.

well then. is this because theres been massive improvements to the graphics? cause the game does look a bit better imo but still not nearly as good as modern AAA titles

Not sure... graphics look the same to me from A16 to A17, I think it's just increasing in lack of optimizations...

The fact that the devs still can't make up their minds on anything... I sort of get the impression Beta might take forever to happen.

Modern AAA titles aren't fully destructible 3D Voxel games with structural integrity calculations on every block either.

Graphics on a Voxel game will not be on par with your average flat game with a static landscape for a while. It's the nature of the beast.

yeah i dont agree with that at all sylenthunder. it has to do with textures and design. its time we need to start facing a bit of truth here and stop making excuses. the only reason the graphics in the game arent better is lack of ability of the devs. theres nothing else holding it back. im not trying to stick it to them and say theyre doing a bad job, because i think they are doing a good job but i think they also need to hire someone to redo alot of textures and designs and redo the zombies. but maybe this will come in time...maybe another 3 or 4 years

Nope. SylenThunder is 100% correct on this. Each block in the world is a copy paste, and has to be a copy paste because of how the game world is... being fully destructible and whatnot. Character details and item details, sure, that's another matter, though with all the constant SI calculations and other factors like lighting and shadows being cast on every single one of those millions of entities being rendered on screen (each block, each piece of grass, each item, etc). There's only so much computer hardware can handle.

In a static world, everything changes cuz the world is 1 entity... 1 canvas. Far less to render and nothing to calculate.

Put it this way, run a physX simulation with millions of blocks falling from the sky and see how hard it is on your hardware and you'll maybe understand why this game is hard on hardware.

i didnt say the game wasnt hard on hardware. i said the game looks dumpy because the game devs made it look that way and it doesnt need to look dumpy

i7 7700k 4.2GHz

GTX 1070 amp! Extreme

16GB RAM

Running game on max settings and Dont have any problems with Framedrops ect.

Not even when theres a screen full of random effects like Explosions n zeds all over the Place.

Dunno what people do to get Potato graphics
